The Bearwood Lleyn Flock (Flock 981) was established in 1998 and now totals 450 ewes.The flock performance records, using Signet Breeding Services’ Best Linear Unbiased Prediction (BLUP) analysis which presents the most important genetic traits in the form of Estimated Breeding Values (EBV’s) to create the Lleyn Maternal Index and the Lleyn Carcase + Index. These figures in conjunction with an assessment of breed type and conformation are used to select stock as replacements and for sale. These breeding indices can assist breeders and ram buyers to identify stock for a specific breeding objective. We sell males and females through the Lleyn Sheep Society sales at Exeter, Ross-on-Wye,Ruthin and Carmarthen and privately off the farm |
